The Leopold Project Production History
- June 1998. Gene Kelly: A Live Documentary. In collaboration with the University of Florida Fine Arts Center, and with the support and active participation of Fred Kelly (Gene’s younger brother) the Leopold Project developed and produced this world premiere production.
- July 1999. John & Jen by Andrew Lippa and Tom Greenwald. the production was produced using student and professional actors and featured a visit with lyricist Tom Greenwald.
- October 1999. Children of Eden by Stephen Schwartz and John Caird. The production featuring a minimalist conceptulization, sold out it’s limited run at the Univeristy of Florida Fine Arts Center.
- January 2000. Romance, Romance by Keith Herrmann and Barry Harman was produced in collaboration with the University Florida Department of Theater as a graduate thesis project.
- June 2000. Bonnie & Clyde, a new musical, was produced in New York City as a fully staged reading and backers audition which enabled the show to move to Bailiwick Repertory Theater in Chicago.
- August 2000. The Most Important Thing by Maryrose Wood was commissioned by The Leopold Project and received its first two public readings in October and December 2001.
- August 2000. The Leopold Reading Series focused on supporting work with an artistic or thematic relevance to current Leopold projects, and works by promising writers and artists whose work could benefit from the exposure, discussion and support.
- October 2000. Development began on Beats, a percussive theatre play about the history of “The Beat”
- April 2001. Leopold Writers Group began as a supportive, collaorative environment for artists to share their work.
- May 2001. Internship Program. For graduating college seniors at schools outside of New York stae interested in carreres in the performing arts or arts administration.
- June 2001. Meet John Doe, a new musical, was commissioned by the Leopold Project and subsequently optioned by Lincoln Center Theater.
